Outstanding news: Parisian monuments for sale!!!

Le Président Nicolas Sarkozy a annoncé hier un plan ambitieux pour palier au déficit de la sécurité sociale: mettre en vente les monuments parisiens, qui appartiennent à l’heure actuelle à la ville de Paris.
Plusieurs puissances étrangères auraient déjà fait des offres s’élevant à plusieurs milliards d’Euros. Il semble que la Chine soit prête à payer 3 milliards d’Euros pour la Tour Eiffel à elle seule.

Les autres monuments concernés sont l’Arc de Triomphe, le Petit Palais, la Sorbonne, la Bourse de Paris, les Invalides, Le Grand Palais… et les ponts de la Seine.
Le Président a déclaré que la cathédrale Notre Dame et La basilique du Sacré-coeur seraient exclues de cette négociation à cause de leur caractère religieux.
“Il n’est en aucun cas question de déplacer ces monuments emblématiques de la ville de Paris, mais seulement de céder leur titre de propriété et leur visa d’exploitation afin d’en tirer un profit qui pourrait résoudre la crise économique française”.

Translation

President Nicolas Sarkozy announced yesterday an ambitious plan for mitigating the social health deficit. To sell the Parisian monuments, which presently belong  to the city of Paris.
Many foreign powers have already made offers totaling several billion Euros. It seems that China is willing to pay 3 billion Euros for the Eiffel Tower alone.
The other monuments concerned are the Arc de Triomphe, the Petit Palais, the Sorbonne, the Paris Bourse, the Invalides, Grand Palais … and the bridges of the Seine.
The President said that the cathedral Notre Dame as well as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart would be excluded from the negotiations because of their religious character.
“It is out of the question to move these monuments symbolic of the city of Paris, only to cede their title and their visa operation to make a profit that could solve the French economic crisis. ”

In France, April 1 is known as le poisson d’avril, and like Americans, the French play jokes on one another. One tradition is sticking a cut out paper fish on someone’s back without them knowing it!

Aujourd’hui les élèves de la deuxième heure ont fini- enfin!- de regarder Chocolat.
Nous avons parlé de la soirée multiculturelle  le 26 avril et du concours ( contest) de posters. Si vous faites un poster pour le concours, il faut le rendre le 19avril.
Voici les instructions pour le poster:

Thème: Languages and Culture make the world go ’round
requirements:

  1. 1. use full size poster board
  2. 2. draw/paint/color/illustrate the poster based on the theme ( no download pictures, no black and white)
  3. 3. Write the theme and location ( Issaquah Commons)
  4. 4. Write the date
  5. 5. Write the date of the event: April 26th, 5:30 -8:00pm
  6. 6. Incorporate different elements of culture
  7. 7. Due back to Mme Silverman on April 19th.

Utilisez les vacances pour commencer votre projet ( trifold) pour la soirée multicuturelle et/ou faire un poster pour le concours de posters.
